Truth to Rise On

We go into the dark so you don't have to stay there.

Every story has its shadow.

Most of us have done something ridiculous on no sleep. Poured orange juice into our coffee. Walked into a room and forgotten why. We laugh, and we should.

But not every story ends with a laugh. A missed signal. A double shift. A decision that can’t be taken back. We treat exhaustion as ordinary—until its consequences make the news.

Here, we don’t look away. We explore what happened, listen to those who found their way back, and ask what it takes to restore us.

  1. The dark

    Sleep Guy Chronicles

True stories—and fiction inspired by real events—about what happens when exhaustion goes ignored. Crime, mystery, history, and consequences no one saw coming.

  2. The way back

    Truth to Rise On

Conversations with people who lived something like it and came out the other side, and what they know now.

  3. The center

    Rest to Rise

The book. Twelve modern parables about the rest that remains, and the faith that holds it.

Meet Tom | The Sleep Guy

I lost my father in 2013. Then spent the next decade wrestling with sleep apnea and trying to understand why something so natural had become so damn difficult.

That search led me through science, storytelling, and eventually, faith.

I’m a filmmaker turned certified sleep science coach. I ask tough questions, challenge conventional wisdom, and believe a little humor goes a long way.

Because life’s too short to spend it exhausted.

Certified sleep science coach.

Award-winning filmmaker and screenwriter.

Thirty years of storytelling.

Professionally concerned about your bedtime.

Rest to Rise

Learning to Sleep the Way God Intended

Twelve modern parables from a community whose sleep has been taken from them: firefighters, nurses, caregivers, pastors. And the rest that still remains.

Grounded in sleep science. Held together by faith. Written for anyone who has ever been too tired to see straight.

Book one of three. First we learn to rest. Then to release. Then to listen.

Rest to Rise is not a substitute for medical or psychological care. Spiritual reflection is always your choice.

Questions

What is Truth to Rise On?

It’s the home of three things that work together. Sleep Guy Chronicles goes into the stories. The Truth to Rise On podcast talks with people who found their way back. Rest to Rise, the book, explores the spiritual center that restores us.

Is Rest to Rise a religious book?

Rest to Rise brings together personal stories, sleep science, and Scripture to explore what helps us rest—and what keeps us from it. Faith is part of the story, but you don’t need to share it to find something here for you. If you’re exhausted and looking for a way forward, this book is an invitation to begin.

What experience do you bring to this work?

I’m a certified sleep science coach, researcher, and host—and I live with sleep apnea. Sleep isn’t just something I study. It’s something I navigate every day. My work brings together research, lived experience, and conversations about what exhaustion costs us—and what it takes to find our way back to rest.

This work is educational and does not replace medical advice.

Are the Chronicles stories true?

Some are true stories, and some are fiction inspired by real events. Each episode tells you which.

When does the book come out, and what does reserving cost?

There’s no release date yet. Reserving is free. No payment, just your name and email, and we’ll let you know when it’s available.

What is the group guide?

A free guide drawn from one chapter of Rest to Rise, made for groups to read and discuss together: shift workers, veterans, caregivers, families keeping vigil, recovery and support groups.

Can I be a guest on the podcast?

Yes. Use “Appear on Truth to Rise On” above to tell us about yourself. We read every request and reply either way.

Can Tom speak to our group?

Live talks are by invitation. Use “Book Tom” to pick a time to talk it through.

What do you do with my information?

We use it only for what you asked for. We never sell or share it, and you can ask to be removed anytime.

What if I’m struggling right now?
